Press Release - March 2009
Danish Scan ranks in the international design world’s top division together with Ligne Roset, Villeroy & Boch, Artemide, Design House Stockholm, Mercedes-Benz, and Alfa Romeo. The wood-burning stove series, Scan 58, has received the "red dot" honourable mention for product design together with the listed brands.
The Scan 58 stove concept has innovative design from Harrit and Sørensen which is one of Denmark’s leading design houses. The stoves have an elliptical shape that creates its own special expression. The different variants with the big side glasses give a unique view to the fire. The concept allows for choice between three different burn chambers combined with three different base modules, in addition to a heat storing soapstone and an elegant glass top.
With this award, over 20 of the world’s foremost design experts have placed Scan on an equal footing with many of the world’s most exclusive and well-known brands. ‘red dot’ dates back to 1955 and is awarded annually for outstanding design across several categories. Environmentally friendly technology
The Scan 58 Series was launched in June 2008 and has been a big sales success. Scan has been developing environmentally friendly technology for fireplaces for many years. Not only is wood a renewable form of energy and wood burning CO2 neutral, but Scan’s clean burning stoves need significantly less wood than older non-clean burning options. Scan’s clean-burning stoves have double combustion systems. This enables up to 90 percent of the gases and particles in smoke to be converted to heat, giving minimal smoke emission and more heat.
Since the company’s founding in 1978, Scan AS has always made heating furniture of the highestquality. A combination of Danish design and a focus on details have made Scan to one of Scandinavia’s leading brands within fireplaces and are today established all around the world.
